At the time of the unsuccessful bid by S.A. for the Olympic games, Sorma S.A. and Elgin Sweeper Company (USA) were at the drawing board designing a sweeper to suit African needs. The basis of the units design being to suit the African climate, applications and economics. Unlike the USA or Europe, Africa has it's own unique requirements. Simply put, truck mounted sweepers historically available from the USA and Europe are to big and to expensive. The decision to build this unit in the USA was based on Elgin's current infrastructure and manufacturing capabilities as well as their international market exposure. This to ensure sufficient volumes to produce an economically priced truck. With the successful bid for the 2010 Soccer World Cup and the successful testing of the Elgin prototype sweeper we are now in a position to introduce to the African market the - Elgin "AFRI SWEEP " Crosswind Fury. - Highly efficient air conveyance system
- High-productivity sweep system
- Superior water system for dust suppression
- Efficient debris containment and dump system
Setting a new standard for municipalities that want powerful effective cleaning combined with low cycle costs. The "Afri Sweep" Crosswind Fury unites the technology of regenerative air with compact body. Powerful enough to sweep a wide range of streets, maneuverable enough to reach into alleys and navigate narrow roads.
